Firefighters in Cleveland, North Carolina got a shocking surprise when they found a suitcase outside their firehall with a dog and her five puppies zipped up inside.
They immediately reached out to Johnston County Animal Services for help. The mama was scared, but she and her puppies are doing really well considering how they were rescued. The shelter put the dogs in temporary isolation at the shelter while they investigated.
Chris Ellington, Cleveland Fire Chief said, “This is a happy ending to such a sad situation. For someone to abandon any animal greatly saddens our entire department, however we are glad we were able to provide care for these dogs until the proper authorities could arrive.”
A week later, the mama and puppies are moving yet again but this time to an animal rescue where they will be readied for adoption. According to WRAL, the mama and her puppies are out of temporary isolation and are now headed to Saving Grace Animals for Adoption to be cared for until they are ready for forever homes.
