In the heart of Lexington, in the Shriners Children’s sanatorium, one of the wonderful dogs named Chance has a profound effect. His journey from survival dogs with a sad history to certified therapy dogs is a delightful story of adaptability, empathy, and the power of love.

Chance’s story began with adversity, as he was discovered in a deplorable state, starving and with a pellet in his shoulder. John’s rescue camp, a group of loyal monster suckers, came to his salvation, furnishing him with the important medical care required and, more importantly, an alternative chance at life. Despite their neat sweating, chance’s front leg could not be saved, and veterinarians had to reattach it, along with his collarbone and shoulder, to treat the grained crack. 

Six weeks after the life-saving surgery, chance set up a new home with Andrea White, the Shriners ‘ former nanny . Inspired by his kind, intelligent, peddable nature, Andrea decided to look for a pet therapy tool for Chance. She had a unique charge in mind to visit cases with a scarcity of branches, just like serendipity. 

Together, chance and Andrea love passed on pet therapy leash training, and it wasn’t long before Chance was patrolling the halls of Lexington Shriners Children as certified therapy dogs. His main task was to bring comfort and smiles to children who face challenges similar to his. 

During their visits, chance and Andrea repeatedly entered the clinic’s test apartments, where the children’s faces light up with pleasure. Many will descend to the bottom to be near their furry friend. The children and their families were naturally curious about how Chance lost his leg, but it was his “eager to please” disposition that really captured their hearts.
